Curriculum Overview
At Shashvat, we cradle the brilliance of the Cambridge International Education (CIE) Curriculum—a global treasure known for its depth and its call to think boldly. It’s a path that leads to the world’s finest universities, a canvas of subjects from science to poetry that invites exploration. But we don’t stop there. We breathe life into this framework with the “Shashvat Way of Learning,” turning lessons into journeys. Here, education isn’t about passing tests—it’s about lighting fires of confidence, creativity, and readiness for whatever lies ahead.
Science: A Dialogue with Nature
Instead of learning about ecosystems from a diagram, our students step into our 2-acre forest, a living laboratory where science is a multisensory dialogue. They learn biology not from a textbook, but from the whisper of leaves as they track the seasonal changes in our trees. Their hands, caked in rich soil from planting saplings in our 5-layer fruit forest, understand botany more deeply than any chart ever could. They learn about life cycles by observing ducklings paddle in our pond and by caring for the animals that share our campus. Physics isn’t just formulas on a board; it’s the practical challenge of designing a simple machine to help with gardening. Here, science is a journey of discovery where muddy hands and racing hearts lead to a profound respect for the delicate dance of life, fostering not just scientists, but future guardians of our planet.
Mathematics: Numbers with a Purpose
At Shashvat, numbers are not cold, abstract figures; they are powerful tools for creation, problem-solving, and community building. We strip away the fear of mathematics and replace it with the joy of purpose. Students don’t just solve equations; they apply them. They might measure the perimeter of their garden plot to calculate fencing needs, dream up and manage a budget for a school improvement project, or analyze data from their rainfall gauge to predict water availability for our plants. Through specialized programs like Jodo Gyan, math becomes a playful, tangible puzzle. By using numbers to build, plan, and contribute, students discover their inherent logic and beauty, transforming mathematics from a daunting subject into a language for making a tangible impact on their world.
Literature: Words as Windows to the Soul
Literature at Shashvat is an act of communion—with the author, with the characters, and most importantly, with oneself. We believe stories are mirrors that reflect our own humanity. As students delve into tales of courage from distant lands or poems of kindness that echo their own experiences, they learn empathy on a cellular level. But it doesn’t stop at reading. They are stirred to find their own voices through spirited debates, heartfelt drama performances, and the quiet courage of writing their own verse. Words leap off the page and become tools for connection and self-expression. They learn that language is not just for communication, but for building bridges of understanding and discovering the boundless worlds that reside within them.
Social Studies: History and Geography as a Personal Journey
History and geography at Shashvat unfold like stories whispered on the wind, not as a static collection of dates and maps. We believe that to understand the world, one must first understand their place in it. Our students wander local paths, touching the weathered stones of old structures to feel the passage of time. They interview community elders, becoming living archivists of local lore. They map their immediate environment to understand how geography shapes culture and life. By grounding global lessons in local reality, history ceases to be about “them, then” and becomes about “us, now.” They learn that they are part of a long, unfolding story and are empowered to map a future that is compassionate, inclusive, and matters to all.
This is the essence of Shashvat: learning that is vibrant, real, and unforgettable. We seamlessly marry the intellectual rigor of the Cambridge curriculum with our hands-on, heart-centered love for learning. The result is an education that speaks not only to the mind but resonates deep within the spirit, shaping resilient, thoughtful, and kind individuals ready to engage with the world with both intelligence and grace.
